The Galway Association Golf Society (London)

About Us

The Galway Association Golf Society (London), known simply as “GAGS”, is a Golf society founded by a group of Galway business men in 1992. The society consists of around 100 members, and although many are from County Galway, the GAGS is not exclusively a “Galway Society”. We have members from almost every county in Ireland, England and further afield.

We host a Golf outing once a month, every month, from April through to October (sometimes November). Further details of all our fixtures can be found via the “Society Fixtures” page..

Our members compete in Four-ball stableford competition at each outing, and members often bring guests who compete in the guest section, likewise ladies compete in the Ladies Section.

Each of our outings are sponsored typically by long standing members of the society, for whom we are eternally grateful, and there is always a fantastic array of prizes up for grabs for all three sections.

The typical format for a GAGS outing is as follows:

• Confirm your wish to attend to any member of the committee and then meet up at our chosen venue about an hour before tee-off, for breakfast rolls, tea/coffee
• Go to Registration desk to enter competition and receive scorecard
• Tee-off for 18 holes of Golf, four-ball stableford competition
• Refreshments at the 19th Hole
• Three course evening meal
• Prize giving ceremony followed by a Raffle

In addition to the monthly stableford competition, members also have the chance to compete in the “Match play” and “Golfer of the Year” Competitions, the latter of which is decided by calculating the ‘five highest scores’ achieved over any of the eight annual outings, including best score obtained during the Annual Tour. At the end of the season, the top seeded 32 Golfers automatically qualify for the Match Play championship and then a draw is conducted (at our AGM), to make up the Match Play matches.

“The aim of the society is to promote and foster the game of Golf, and to encourage new friendships to form between society members not previously known to each other”
